Castle monument Colomares in Benalmádena
In 1987 Dr. D. Esteban Martín Martín started the improvised construction of the Castle Monument Colomares. It was completed seven years later. The castle is dedicated to the discovery of America in 1492. Each part of the monument tells its own story: the life of Christopher Columbus, the Old and New Testaments, the Star of David, the Catholic Kings and the Arab, Phoenician and Roman cultures. The different areas of the castle are marked with numbers, so that visitors can see what it is all about from a list given to them at the entrance. The building is a combination of different architectural styles, ranging from Byzantine and Romanesque to Gothic and Mudejar. A visit to the castle monument is suitable for the whole family.
