Airport
The Airport in Málaga is located eight kilometres far away from the centre of the city. There are two airstrips from which planes are flying to cities in over 60 countries around the world. The operator AENA published data whereby more than 16,6 Million passengers were flying from and to Málaga in 2016 which makes more than 123.700 starts and landings. Car: It is possible to arrive the airport of Málaga via the MA-20, which you need to leave at the exit of the golf course Guadalmar to get on the MA-23. The MA-23 directly leads to the terminals of the airport. Another possibility to reach the airport is using the federal road N-340 (Avenida Velázquez). From the city-center you will need 15 to 20 minutes to arrive at the airport.
Bus: From the central bus station of Málaga to the airport you can take a shuttlebus. It is marked with an A for airport and commonly drives every 30 to 40 minutes. The company EMT is responsable for bus connections within the city.

The airport in Málaga started its operations on March 9, 1919. The first scheduled flight run between Alicante, Barcelona, Málaga, Toulouse, Tanger and Casablanca. In 1946 the airport started providing national and international flights which were offered to civilians in 1948. Since 1960 the airport ist is developed further. Different terminals, parking areas, ramps, electric power station, navigation help, express exits and a lot more things were already installed. In 1965 the airport was named "Airport Málaga". In 2011 the airport was renamed to "Airport Málaga – Costa del Sol".
