Festival of the three cultures: This is how the Moors, Jews and Christians lived together peacefully in the Middle Ages
Every year in August, the Festival of the Three Cultures takes place in the small municipality of Frigiliana, around 60 kilometers from the provincial capital of Málaga. For several days in a row, the inhabitants of Frigiliana celebrate the medieval period when Moors, Jews and Christians lived together peacefully. Guests can expect a handicraft market, a folk march, conferences, entertainment and children's activities, workshops, film screenings, a tapas route, narration, demonstrations, musical performances, fireworks and much more. A visit to the Festival of Three Cultures is worthwhile for the whole family.
The genesis of the festival
The idea for this festival came in 2006. At that time, the local government wanted to create an event to promote tourism in the municipality. Since then, the Festival of the three cultures has taken place every year. It combines culture, gastronomy, music and theater with numerous activities, attracting thousands of visitors to Frigiliana every year. (Editor/Photos/Videos: Michael Trampert)Videoimpressions
